Stewardship at Kendall Farm

Caring for the Land

The organic vegetable garden at Kendall Farm.

The Kendall family has long practiced wise use of our land and resources. Within our means, we try to be as green as we can be by conserving electricity and fuel, using CFL light bulbs, composting, and recycling. We use only organic fertilizers and very selectively harvest our firewood.

Rather than building new, our first preference is always to maintain and repair what the generations before us have built. We work hard to preserve our land and history and do our part to protect Boyden Lake for future generations.

Join Us in Treading Lightly

We invite our cottage guests to help us be earth friendly by recycling, using environmentally friendly products, and conserving energy. We favor kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and sailboats and ask that our visitors bring human-powered boats as well. To keep our lake free of invasive species, guests need to thoroughly rinse off boats before launching them into the lake.

We encourage you to shop locally by supporting The Red Sleigh featuring incredible works by local artisans and locally produced vegetables, meats, milk, cheeses, and fruit pies. We also hope that you will shop to support our local farmers' markets, artisan studios and restaurants.
